Through most of 2024, Jaco has been implementing comprehensive food support programs targeting underprivileged areas, especially during the ongoing conflict, to ensure food security and support hospitals in war zones.
JACO is actively campaigning for the protection of women from sexual violence in conflict zones, collaborating with local and international partners to raise awareness and implement protective measures. This also includes providing compassionate care and other means of support such as essential foods, baby formulas, clothing blankets, midwifery services, and phycological care. Comprehensive COVID-19 efforts, included PPE distribution, medical training, and a far-reaching awareness platform, impacting 10-15 million people via SMS. JACO spearheaded national response initiatives, enhancing the capacity of over 10 primary healthcare centers across Sudan through collaboration with the government, WHO, and NGOs. JACO stood as the sole NGO supporting isolation centers during critical periods. The “Home Management for COVID-19 Cases” initiative was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Health, this initiative supported mild to moderate COVID-19 cases at home, alleviating hospital burdens. Comprehensive COVID-19 efforts, included PPE distribution, medical training, and a far- reaching awareness platform, impacting 10-15 million people via SMS.
Full medical insurance for 120 diabetic orphans through a partnership with the Sudanese Children Diabetic Association. JACO formed a strategic partnership with the Sudanese Children Diabetic Association (SCDA) by fully funding comprehensive insurance coverage of 120 diabatic orphans. The SCDA Diabetic Centre cares after 2000 diabetic children, providing multidisciplinary services including eye clinics, dental care, dieticians, social workers and a psychologist clinic, as well as free Insulin for diabetic children.
In collaboration with the Japanese Embassy, we rehabilitated primary health care systems to alleviate the burden of chronic diseases, focusing on child and maternal health with a substantial budget, successfully rehabilitating 65 centers. JACO helped in the renovation of Mygoma Centre in Khartoum, enabling continued healthcare services like vaccinations and antenatal care during construction, funded by the Japanese Government.
JACO has been implementing comprehensive food support programs as recently as 2024 by targeting underprivileged and warn torn areas to ensure food security. JACO launched the Nakheela Flood Relief Campaign for 100 households and a seed distribution project supporting displaced families to improve long-term food supply.
